Time to Cowboy Up!

In my travels I came upon three retired men of color at a county fair dressed up like 9th and 10th US Cavalry men.  (That was a seriously politically correct sentence wasn’t it?)  They had a whole booth explaining the history, legacy and activities they were a part of,  to the uninformed. (Which meant just about everyone.)  And because of their dress of the period, no one seemed to notice the Ruger pistols they also wore.

It gave me the thought that in urban areas where gun control advocates have painted a pretty good picture of what a pro gun person looks like, going in period dress as anyone but a Confederate soldier; i.e., dressing up as a black cowboy, minuteman, US Cavalry soldier would work in our favor.  While “Johnny Reb” has the right to be seen too, unfortunately, his regalia is tied to the night riding Klansman regardless of the heritage argument.  And since being right is not the goal we are trying to achieve, “wisdom is better than weapons of war…”

So on this weeks’ podcast of The Urban Shooter I am going to share some names of American History not talked about outside of those knowledgeable about the Old West.  It is my hopes that someone looking to try a new sport of cowboy action shooting or activism will consider donning the clothes of the post Civil War era, the Gold Rush and the Old West.  You will also hear episode 24 of “Zombie Strike” and hear some listener’s picks for most memorable gun moments in my question of the week.  We have less than a month before the Second Amendment March.  Washington, DC is looking good.  It’s time to Cowboy Up!
