The End of One Season… and getting to work on another!

Tonight marks the end of the First Season of S.W.A.T. Magazine TV as well as the second season of The Best Defense. It has been a great few months of feedback on both shows and both teams are really proud of what we put out this time around!

The Best Defense improved on our method of delivering practical information about preparing for and actually defending yourself and your family. This year, Mike Janich and I took turns playing “bad guy” and acted out many typical dynamic critical incidents in the home, workplace and public environments. The episodes all started out with the worst case scenarios showing what can happen when you are not paying attention and haven’t formed a plan. As the show goes on we evolved the scenarios by changing the actions and preparations of the good guys to show how sometimes very simple things can mean the difference between life and death… or, in the best case scenarios, the ability to completely avoid trouble in the first place. As usual, Host Michael Bane brought the lessons home to the viewer throughout the season.

S.W.A.T. Magazine TV was an entirely new venture with a new style of looking at tactical training from a select group of professional instructors who are active in preparing armed professionals to perform their jobs as safely as possible and have lessons to offer anyone interested in personal or home defense. I had the opportunity to work with almost 20 guests discussing topics are diverse as K9’s for security and naval port security or taking a defensive shot in a simulated crowd environment with three dimensional training targets that move. Our guests featured S.W.A.T. Magazine writers such as Louis Awerbuck, Ken Campbell and James Yeager as well as instructors who work almost exclusively in the public sector but still had valuable information to offer viewers. Brent Wheat’s Street Smarts brought sage advice each week and our frequent “Question of the Week” segment posed sometimes controversial questions to all of our guest instructors and showed that sometimes, even the experts disagree. S.W.A.T. TV is also eligible for a People’s Telly Award, if you’ve appreciated the show, visit the YouTube site and VOTE for us! If you haven’t had a chance to see the show yet, this is also an opportunity to get a glimpse of a segment at the YouTube site.

Discussing security mindset in the 9th Ward for TBD:Survival, Season 2.

This month marks the beginning of work for the future under both titles, starting immediately with taping for the spin-off Best Defense: Survival series and with planning for taping next month for the next season of S.W.A.T. Magazine TV, both of which will begin airing this summer on Outdoor Channel.

Thanks to everyone for your support of both shows and, of course, our Sponsors!

Meanwhile, keep watching Wednesday Nights on the Outdoor Channel after tonight’s season finales for the re-run season, where you’re sure to pick up something you missed the first time around!
