Team Hornady® scores big at Rocky Mountain 3-Gun and USPSA Area 3 Championships

(Grand Island, NE) Team Hornady relied on accurate and consistent Hornady bullets and ammo to score key wins at the 2011 Rocky Mountain 3-Gun and 2011 USPSA Area 3 Championships.

The 2011 JP Enterprises Rocky Mountain 3-Gun Championship (RM3G) was held August 4-6, at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, N.M. Over 280 competitors from 20 states competed in nine challenging stages designed to shake comfort levels, and test skill and physical limits at an elevation of 6,600 feet. Match designers Denise and JJ Johnson used the dusty and rocky foothill terrain of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to obscure targets with prickly pears, pine trees, washed out gullies and fallen limbs. Pistol targets were set from 2 to 50 yards, with long-range rifle targets from 2 to 600 yards.

Team Hornady used Hornady HAP® bullets, A-MAX® bullets, and Steel Match™ ammo to score several spots on the RM3G winner’s podium:
• 1st Place Heavy Metal Scoped Division: Adam Popplewell
• 1st Place Open Division: Michael Voigt
• 1st Place Ladies Open Division: Maggie Reese
• 1st Place Heavy Metal Irons Division: Rob Romero
• 3rd Place Heavy Metal Scoped Division: Tate Moots

More than 300 of the nation’s top competitors traveled to Grand Island from 40 states to demonstrate their best talents.

Known for pushing competitors beyond their normal limits, match director and stage designer Sherwyn Greenfield created stages that put skills to the test. “I enjoy designing a stage that will be intricate yet deceivingly easy,” said Greenfield. “It forces competitors to concentrate and makes them work to execute the stage properly.”
