Single Stack Nationals Get Underway

The U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s Single Stack Nationals got underway today in Barry, Ill. at the PASA Park ranges. Approximately 280 top 1911 shooters will be competing, uncluding several from Team Smith & Wesson, Todd Jarrett, Mike Seeklander, Scott Warren and, of course, Robbie Leatham. Leatham will be going for his 16th straight win at the match.

Today’s shooters, about 103, were able to shoot all 16 stages of the match. Squadded in groups of 5, they were apparently able to finish shooting today somewhere after 3pm. As of now, Glenn Shelby has the lead with a score of 1137.3488, followed by Seeklander at 1118.1803 and Doug Koenig holding down third with 1041.2241. You can expect, no make that bet, on this all changing.

The one wild card could be tomorrow’s weather. As you can see from the pics taken by Yamil Sued, today was a pretty nice day on the range, but the forecast for tomorrow calls for strong storms with a 70% chance of precipitation. We’ll see how that impacts the match or if it causes officials to move Friday’s squads into Saturday. You can find the scores here so you can follow your favorite shooters.
