Munier Crowned Florida Open Single Stack Champion

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — William Munier of Lawrenceville, Ga. was crowned the Single Stack division champion at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Florida Open Handgun Championship.

Munier won six of the 10 stages in the match on his way to a first place finish with a total of 1492.3124 points, more than 125 points ahead of his nearest competitor. Munier is ranked a Master, the second highest skill level in the sport of practical shooting.

Second place went to Jerry Brown of Aiken, S.C., who is also ranked a Master and took top honors on three stages to post a final score of 1367.0808. In third place was Randy Arrowood of Tyrone, Ga. with one stage win and a final score of 1347.5832.

Rounding out the top five were David Harrington of Tampa, Fla. in fourth place with 1192.7780 points, and Plinio Leon of Davie, Fla. in fifth with a score of 1126.3661.

The USPSA Florida Open Handgun Championship was held this past weekend at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Fla. and drew more than 365 top competition shooters, including competitors from Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, Norway, Russia, Serbia, the Slovak Republic and Spain.

The next major match on the USPSA calendar is the 2011 Area 6 Regional Pistol Championship which will be held April 15-17 at the Universal Shooting Academy.
