ISSF World Cup USA: Men’s 50m Rifle Three Position

The Men’s 50m Rifle Three Position event produced some of the highest scores of the competition. China’s Qinan Zhu shot an outstanding 1181 points in qualification and followed it up with 99.4 points in the final for the gold medal and a total score of 1280.4 points. Italy’s Niccolo Campriani, who was last year’s gold medalist in this event, took home the silver this year with a victorious final shot. Tied with Simon Beyerler of Switzerland, Campriani fired a solid 10.1 point shot to Beyerler’s 9.6 point shot. Campriani gained ground on Beyerler in the final after shooting 1177 qualification points and 100.3 points in the final. Beyerler finished with the bronze medal and 1276.8 total points (1180+96.8). The USA Shooting Team’s Matt Emmons (Browns Mills, N.J.) shot the highest final of the match with 101.2 points. Emmons finished qualification with 1172 points and scored 50.7 points in a shoot-off to earn the seventh position in the final. He shot his way up to fifth place and finished with 1273.2 total points. Teammate Sergeant Joe Hein (Mason, Mich., pictured) shot 1175 qualification points and 96.4 points in the final to finish seventh with 1271.4 total points. Sergeant First Class Jason Parker (Columbus, Ga.) finished with 1170 points.
