ISSF World Cup Final for Shotgun Preview

Kim Rhode (El Monte, Calif.), Sergeant Glenn Eller (Katy, Texas) and Rachael Heiden (Clinton, Mich.) will take the stage at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final. The competition will take place in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, from Oct. 1 to 6. This prestigious, invite-only event features competition from 59 of the world’s best shotgun athletes. Representing 24 nations, many of these shooters will also be competing in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This event is not only the culmination of a successful ISSF World Cup season, but provides an opportunity to shoot against many athletes that will also appear in London.

Already nominated to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team (pending approval by the U.S. Olympic Committee), Rhode shoots on Oct. 2, against top ranked Christine Wenzel of Germany and Wei Ning and Zhang Donglian of China. Teammate Eller is hopping a plane immediately following the U.S. Olympic Trials for Shotgun in Kerrville, Texas, to arrive for the Men’s Double Trap event on Oct. 4. Eller, the number seven shooter in the world, will face top ranked Li Jun of China, Andreas Loew of Germany and Russia’s formidable Vitaly Forkeev. In Women’s Trap, Heiden, who is ranked fourth in the world, is looking to reassert her skills as she will battle against top shooters such as Liu Yingzi of China, Zuzana Stefecekova of Slovakia and Elena Tkach of Russia. She will be the final American to shoot on Oct. 5. For live results, please navigate to the ISSF Website. Follow the USA Shooting Team on Facebook and Twitter for updated scores and more.
