Awards Banquet at NRA’s Police Shooting Championships

Crowd gathers to view trophies presented at 2012 NRA National Police Shooting Championship award ceremony

Albuquerque, New Mexico – The 2012 Awards Banquet for the National Police Shooting Championships started at 7:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Albuquerque. Packed to the gills with local, municipal, state and federal law enforcement officers, there were two things for certain; There’d be a number of trophies going home with Border Patrol Agents and Gunny R. Lee Ermey would bring the crowd to their feet.

Sure enough, members of the U.S. Border Patrol walked away with a majority of this year’s trophies. And when Gunny took the stage, well, it was pandemonium.

“It’s been five years we’ve been doing this,” Gunny told the crowd. “It’s got to the point where if I don’t show up, you guys are going to think I’m dead — so it’s mandatory that I appear.”

And to give the night an even more special touch, he performed his opening monologue from Full Metal Jacket.

We’ll have scores and winners of the individual matches later, but for those of you wondering yes — Robert Vadasz won his fourth Grand Aggregate Championship.
