Championship Finish for Team GLOCK at Steel Challenge Nationals

Glock Team Captain Dave Sevigny

SMYRNA, Georgia – Coming off their recent wins at the Georgia Steel Challenge, Team GLOCK added to their collection of titles at the 2010 Steel Challenge Nationals held March 26-28 in Titusville, Florida.

Team Captain Dave Sevigny won the Limited division using a GLOCK 34 and the Steel Master championship, which is the combined total for rimfire and two centerfire divisions. Sevigny placed third overall in the highly competitive Open Centerfire division. Sevigny reclaimed the prestigious Steel Master championship by a decisive 12 second margin over runner up Todd Jarrett and 17 seconds over 2009 champion BJ Norris. Sevigny commented, “This was another great battle in all three divisions. I was consistent enough in every match which helped win the Steel Master championship.”

Once again demonstrating her strength in steel challenge competition, defending champ Jessie Abbate won the Ladies championship, finished eighth in Limited division with a GLOCK 24 and defended her Ladies Steel Master championship. “I had a rough start in the Ladies Open Match, but was able to reign things in and pull ahead after the first three stages. I’ve always trained to never give up, and that’s what got me through, and took me to another Open victory,” said Jessie. “Training with three guns for this match is always a challenge, and the Steel Master title has become a highly coveted title for that reason. To win the Ladies Steel Master title for the fourth consecutive year is the greatest reward for all the time and energy I have put into training for all three divisions.”

Randi Rogers finished second place overall in Production division with a GLOCK 34, second place in Ladies Steel Master and third overall in the Ladies championship. All of Team GLOCK used GLOCK 17 pistols by S&J Customs in the Open Centerfire division. “The US Steel Nationals was a well run challenging match. I have been training hard with my G34 for the Production category and was pleased with my finish. I look forward to taking what I learned over the weekend and training for the world steel competition in August,” said Randi.

GLOCK, Inc. Vice President Gary Fletcher commented, “We are pleased with Team GLOCK’s performance at this challenging competition. GLOCK strives to provide firearms that compete in the several different categories; we look forward to participating in several more competitions in the future.”

GLOCK pistols were a common sight at the Steel Challenge Nationals. In other news, 16 year old Cody Tucker and 15 year old Tori Nonaka won their respective Junior and Super Junior titles with a GLOCK 34.

Team GLOCK will next compete at the USPSA Area 6 championship sponsored by GLOCK, Inc. April 16-18 in Covington, Georgia.
