BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) announced that it will begin previewing all 13 stages of the 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship beginning Thursday, February 14.
The Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals marks the official start of IDPA’s competition season and will see over 300 of the sport’s top competitors, all gunning for the coveted title of Indoor National Champion in one of its five divisions and 10 categories.
As the country’s fastest growing shooting sport, fueled by the increased demand in concealed carry permits and the need for personal protection, entry into the sold-out match is one of the most difficult, especially considering IDPA’s membership currently exceeds 21,000 and represents more than 50 nations.
As with previous major matches, to help bring the action of the 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship to members across America and around the globe, IDPA will post its DOWN ZERO blog a daily preview of select stages along with their scenarios and shooting procedures.
“Starting Thursday morning, February 14, we will preview the stage or stages from one of the seven shooting bays at the Smith & Wesson Indoor Nationals. Then each day after we will reveal another shooting bay’s stage set up until the match officially begins on Thursday, February 21,” explained Joyce Wilson, executive director of IDPA.
IDPA members and others interested in the scenarios and stage designs featured in this year’s match, as well as past matches, should visit the DOWN ZERO blog, the official blog of IDPA.
“With the tremendous popularity of the Smith & Wesson championship, we want all IDPA members to see the unique course design of this year’s Indoor Nationals. It’s our hope that these stages will fuel the creativity of IDPA clubs and match directors, and help them develop new and challenging courses of fire to benefit the thousands of IDPA members competing in weekly matches at the local level,” added Wilson.
Taking place February 21-23, at the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, the 2013 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals are sponsored by Action Target, Apex Tactical Specialties, Heckler & Koch, Hogue Grips, Militec, PowerTech/Smith & Wesson Flashlights, Pro Ears, Rainier Ballistics, Ritchie Leather, Safariland, Samson, StormLake Barrels, Swab-its, Taylor Brands/Smith & Wesson Knives, and major match sponsors ACADEMI, Brownells, Comp-Tac Victory Gear, CORBON, GLOCK, GlockTriggers.com, Harris Publications, Michigan Ammo Company, Mossberg, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Nighthawk Custom, Panteao Productions, Ruger, Speed Shooter Specialties, Taurus, Trijicon, Wilson Combat and match host Smith & Wesson among others.
