PIRU, Calif. – The man whose name is synonymous with Smith & Wesson, Jerry Miculek, proved once again why he is the world’s greatest revolver shooter with his Open Sight Revolver (OSR) win and third place overall finish at the 2010 Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships.

In Friday’s OSR match Miculek won all eight stages and outpaced runner-up Eric Leach by more than 25 seconds with his final time of 86.10 seconds.

Then on Saturday, Miculek, who again shot his open revolver, shaved another 2.22 seconds off his time to finish third overall in the Open division with a final time of 83.88 seconds.

“The speed at which Jerry shoots is one that few can achieve. Factor in that he’s doing it with a revolver and you get just a glimpse of how truly impressive Jerry’s accomplishments are in the shooting sports,” said Dave Thomas, executive director of the Steel Challenge Shooting Association which is the national governing body for the sport.

In the OSR contests Leach finished with a time of 111.39. Third place went to Mark Itzstein who shot a time of 113.61.

Rounding out the top five in the division were Mark Terry in fourth with 117.98 seconds and Todd Crow in fifth with 119.89.

Miculek’s OSR win was one of nine titles won by the Smith & Wesson shooting team during the 2010 Steel Challenge.
