zootpic-blog(DRTV VIDEO) Last weekend, Michael Bane and host of Cowboys, Ron “Tupelo Flash” Stein went back in time to the roaring twenties and the thirties, the depression era of gangsters and G-men. They did not use a time machine.. nor was it another Hollywood production. It was a shooting match set up by the American Zoot Shooters Association (AZSA).

A couple of years ago, Henning Wallgren and Jason Huss came up with the idea of using single stack 1911s and Tommy Guns in competition.  Alan Samuel and Ken  Kwiat followed suit and AZSA became a reality.

You can see more from this match and AZSA on Shooting Gallery in 1st quarter 2010 on Outdoor Channel.

Here are some behind the scenes….

  4. [...] Michael Bane, host and producer of Shooting Gallery, was on hand August 29, 2009 in Dumont, CO with a film crew at the Zoot Shooters “Last Man Standing” National Championship match. He is making a show about the AZSA that should air on the Outdoor Channel in early 2010. To see a behind the scenes sneak peek check out the Down Range TV blog. [...]

  5. [...] Michael Bane and his Shooting Gallery crew captured several hours of Zoot Shooters footage. He and Ron Stein interviewed many of the shooters including AZSA’s founders and board of directors. “Machine Gun Alan” had a friend bring a 1937 Ford Sedan to help dress-up the match. The car was a nice fit and added extra realism to our event. The show that Michael will create about our match and exciting new sport should make for some great television. If you would like to see a sample of what is to come, check out Down Range TV. [...]

Any way that I can get a videop of the whole show? I tuned in half way through so I couldn’t tape it myself. I have a few freinds who would find this very entertaining (as did I)!!!!
