“long Colt” GRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Never has been a cartridge called the “Long” Colt. Just go to your local gunstore and read the boxes. If you compare the 45 Schofield and the 45 Colt cartridges you can see why the calvarymen of the day called it the “Damn 45 Long Colt” when the quatermaster sent them 45 Colt cartridges when they were armed with the Schofield Revolver. Which by the way was a much better gun for use on horseback.
