HOUSTON, Texas – When it comes to a holster for carrying on and off the range Comp-Tac Victory Gear is the top choice among IDPA competitors, according to the results of the equipment survey conducted by the International Defensive Pistol Association during their 2012 National Championship this past September.

The survey found that among the 29 holster brands used in the competition, more than a third (35.2%) of the competitors shot the match using a holster manufactured by Comp-Tac Victory Gear, a leading maker of holsters for the personal defense and competition market.

In addition to being the top holster for competition, 15.2% of the IDPA competitors at the National Championship indicated Comp-Tac as their preferred holster choice for concealed carry use, making the Texas-based holster maker the top CCW holster brand out of the 63 named by shooters.

The results of the 2012 IDPA National Championship equipment survey mirror those of the one conducted in June during the 2012 Carolina Cup, when IDPA competitors at that match also selected Comp-Tac as the top holster brand for competition (30.3%) and concealed carry (21.4%).

“We’re extremely proud of the confidence IDPA members have shown in Comp-Tac by making us their top holster choice for competition and personal defense use,” said Gregg Garrett , owner and president of Comp-Tac Victory Gear.

“Being selected this shooting season as the top holster at both the Carolina Cup and the IDPA National Championship is a reflection of the commitment Comp-Tac employees have to designing and making the best holsters on the market, as well as our company’s commitment to supporting and growing the shooting sports.”

The 2012 IDPA National Championship equipment survey was conducted among all 344 competitors with 304 indicating a competition holster preference and 198 indicating a concealed carry holster preference. Results from the Carolina Cup survey were based on a smaller sample with 122 and 117 competitors indicating preferences for competition and concealed carry respectively.
