SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. \u2014 Daniel Horner of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit made it two in a row as he successfully defended his Tactical division title this past weekend in Las Vegas at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association\u2019s (USPSA) 2010 DPMS MultiGun National Championships.<\/p>\n

The Army shooter stationed at Fort Benning, Ga. won five of the 12 stages in the match, taking top honors on the second, third, fifth, tenth and twelfth stages.\u00a0 Horner claimed the lead after the second stage and held it through the remaining stages to finish with a final score of 2075.0824 \u2013 a margin of more than 218 points over his nearest competitor.<\/p>\n

This is the third time in his shooting career that Horner has won the title.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaniel is hands down one of the strongest shooters in MultiGun\u2019s Tactical division. He\u2019s won the title three times now and I\u2019d be hard pressed to bet against him winning a few more time in the future,\u201d said Michael Voigt, USPSA president.<\/p>\n

Winning four stages \u2013 including the first which made him the only other shooter to lead the match \u2013 was Keith Garcia of San Ramon, Calif. who finished second with a final score of 1856.9040. Third place went to Chris Sechiatano of Pleasant Hill, Calif. with 1847.2757.<\/p>\n

Finishing fourth and fifth were Rob Romero of Hoschton, Ga. with 1845.9131 and Ted Puente of Milwaukee, Wis. with 1802.8130.<\/p>\n

Tasha Hanish, a Team FNH USA shooter from Cave Creek, Ariz., won the Women\u2019s Tactical division title for the second year in a row her final score of 1252.3448.<\/p>\n

Among the senior shooters, Kerry DeMatos of Oxnard, Calif. finished 16th overall and claimed the Senior Tactical division title with a score of 1557.8230 while Randy Askins of Ione, Calif. won the Super Senior title with a score of 858.3089.<\/p>\n

More than 150 top shooters from 26 states, as well as Canada, competed in the 2010 DPMS MultiGun Nationals putting more than 19,000 rounds downrange during the competition. The format of the MutiGun Nationals tests a shooter\u2019s skill with three types of firearms \u2013 the rifle, the shotgun and the pistol.<\/p>\n
