Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, has released the third model in its line of precision writing instruments created by the company\u2019s Edged Weapons Division. The SureFire Pen III, like its two predecessors, was designed and built to be both a high-quality writing instrument and a rugged tool that can provide an advantage in case of an emergency.<\/p>\n
\u201cPen III is sort of a hybrid of our other two pens,\u201d said Steve Ryan, director of SureFire\u2019s Edged Weapons Division. \u201cIt was designed to give the benefits of a tactical pen with a more convenient \u2018clickie\u2019 mechanism for law enforcement officers and those who are using a pen every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
The durable Pen III is precision hewn by CNC machines from high-strength aerospace aluminum, which is as strong as steel but substantially lighter. Its aluminum body is hard anodized with a Mil-Spec Type III finish (available in black or tan) that\u2019s chemically grown onto the aluminum surface and is nearly as hard as diamonds. A stainless-steel tip, tailcap, and pocket clip accent the pen\u2019s aluminum body.<\/p>\n
Pen III comes standard with a Schmidt\u00ae easyFLOW 9000 ink cartridge, which provides a smooth, effortless writing experience, but it also accommodates \u201cParker-sized\u201d replacement cartridges. The retractable tip is extended and retracted by pushing\/clicking the stainless-steel tailcap pushbutton. Compact and lightweight (only 5.8 inches long and 1.7 ounces in weight), Pen III is designed to fit in a pocket, briefcase, or stitched-in pen-holders found on many military and law enforcement uniforms. The heavy-duty steel pocket clip, with plenty of retention, ensures that the pen stays securely in place.<\/p>\n
