\"LOGO-SelfDefenseAssn\"<\/a>BERRYVILLE, Ark. \u2013 The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA<\/a>) announced that the Self Defense Association<\/a> (SDA) has signed on as the latest corporate sponsor of IDPA.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Self Defense Association has partnered with IDPA to help expand an important segment of the broader shooting community. Our goal at IDPA is to reach out to new and existing firearms owners to encourage them to not only own guns, but to get out and shoot them in a safe, fun and challenging environment,\u201d said Robert Ray, membership and marketing director for the International Defensive Pistol Assn.<\/p>\n

Noting that approximately 91% of IDPA members hold a concealed carry permit, Ray added, \u201cbesides being an exciting sport, regularly competing in IDPA matches can help a gun owner become more competent and confident in the use of their defensive firearm.\u201d<\/p>\n

“IDPA is a great match for the Self Defense Association. SDA members are concealed carry permit holders who understand the right and responsibility of carrying,\u201d said Darryl Swagerty of the Self Defense Association. \u201cIDPA offers an exciting forum with simulated \u201creal world\u201d self-defense scenarios our members can participate in to practice and improve their concealed carry skills.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Self Defense Association joins ACADEMI, Alien Gear Holsters, Gun World Magazine, Handguns Magazine, Harris Publications, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Smith & Wesson, Target Is Moving, Trijicon and Wilson Combat as a corporate sponsor of IDPA providing major financial support for the organization.<\/p>\n

\"IDPA<\/a>Each year IDPA members in the United States spend upwards of $30 million annually on shooting equipment for the sport with the average amount (of estimated 2013 expenditures) totaling $1,580.83. Equipment purchased by IDPA members includes firearms, accessories, reloading equipment and components.<\/p>\n
