M University, entered the Women\u2019s Skeet final with a commanding lead to capture her second NJOSC National Title.\u00a0 She shot 23 targets in the final and finished 10 targets ahead of the competition at 143.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her gold medal and national title, Drozd\u2019s performance reaffirms her position on the National Junior Team.\u00a0 \u201cI always want to shoot my best and compete to the best of my ability and this kind of proves to me that I can do it each time I step out there.\u00a0 I want to thank my parents for carting me around and paying for it\u2014I know it\u2019s not cheap\u2014and my friends, they are great supporters as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The silver medalist was National Junior Olympic Shotgun Team member <strong>Dania Vizzi<\/strong> (Odessa, Fla.) who upgraded to the National Junior Team with a terrific performance.\u00a0 Vizzi shot 120 targets headed into the final and edged out <strong>Riley Moody<\/strong> (Collinsville, Okla.) with 23 targets in the final.\u00a0 Moody finished with the bronze and 132 targets.\u00a0 She was followed by <strong>Kendall Reed <\/strong>(Azle, Texas), <strong>Gayla Gregory<\/strong> (Bryan, Texas) and <strong>Emily Cates<\/strong> (Centennial, Colo.).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15331\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15331\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15331\" title=\"Jungman\" src=\"https:\/\/www.downrange.tv\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Jungman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15331\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">17-year-old Phillip Jungman earned the title of NJOSC Men&#8217;s Skeet National Champion with 144 targets.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jungman, a J2 category shooter who grew up shooting 4-H, returned from the National Championships (held earlier this month) with a mission\u2014to make the National Junior Team.\u00a0 Jungman, a senior at Caldwell High School, finished fourth in Nationals in an intense shoot-off and missed a team appointment by just one position.\u00a0 This 17-year-old entered the final with a two target lead on the competition and secured his fate with the highest final of 24 targets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI came here knowing that I really wanted to make the team and that was my main goal.\u00a0 I was confident and wanting to win\u2014and now I\u2019m walking away with it.\u00a0 I want to thank my parents for coaching me and my personal coach Todd Graves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The silver and bronze medals were earned through a shoot-off between <strong>Hayden Stewart<\/strong> (Columbia, Tenn.) and <strong>Luis Gloria <\/strong>(Tucson, Ariz.)\u00a0 Tied at 141 targets after the final, Stewart and Gloria stepped up to the fourth station and went target-for-target until Stewart won the silver after six targets.\u00a0 Stewart will join Jungman on the National Junior Team.\u00a0 In fourth was <strong>Will Dunnebacke<\/strong> (Columbia, Tenn.) with 140 targets and a strong 23 in the final.\u00a0 He was followed by <strong>Jakob Keldsen<\/strong>(Walkerton, Ind.) and <strong>Coulter DeWitt<\/strong> (Bryan, Texas).<\/p>\n<p>In the J2 Women\u2019s Skeet category, Reed took top honors with 107 targets and Cates won the silver.\u00a0 The bronze medalist was National Junior Olympic Shotgun Team member <strong>Hannah Houston<\/strong> (Columbia, Tenn.).\u00a0\u00a0 The Men\u2019s top placing J2 shooter was Dunnebacke followed by DeWitt and <strong>Zachary McBee <\/strong>(Gilbert, Ariz.)<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s Skeet J3 category, <strong>Baylor Brooks<\/strong> (Stephenville, Texas) won the gold medal with 101 targets.\u00a0 <strong>Logan Keldsen<\/strong> (Walkerton, Ind.) was second with 98 targets and <strong>Nic Moschetti<\/strong> (Broomfield, Colo.) was third with 97 targets.<\/p>\n<p><em>For complete results and rankings, please visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usashooting.org\/7-events\/njosc\">National Junior Olympic Program page<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the final day of the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships, Brandy Drozd (Bryan, Texas) and Phillip Jungman(Caldwell, Texas) ascended the podium as new National Champions in Colorado Springs.
