said Szarenski.\u00a0 &#8220;I had to tear the gun apart and tighten everything back up and it made me a little nervous, but I held it together and kept getting better.\u00a0 I would like to thank the U.S. Army&#8217;s World Class Athlete Program in Fort Carson for supporting me and my wife Amy for standing by me and taking care of the ranch when I&#8217;m off shooting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14576\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14576\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14576\" title=\"daryl\" src=\"https:\/\/www.downrange.tv\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/daryl-190x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.downrange.tv\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/daryl-190x300.jpg 190w, https:\/\/www.downrange.tv\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/daryl.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14576\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SFC Szarenski will shoot Men&#39;s 10m Air Pistol and Men&#39;s 50m Free Pistol in London.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Szarenski, who already earned a nomination to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team in Men\u2019s 10m Air Pistol, will add another event to his Olympic program.\u00a0 As a result of such, Szarenski will double-start in London and the Men\u2019s 50m Free Pistol quota will be used\u00a0 by teammate <strong>Nick Mowrer<\/strong>(Butte, Mont.).<\/p>\n<p>Mowrer, a Resident Athlete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, was a little over one point behind 2008 Olympian <strong>Brian Beaman<\/strong> (Selby, S.D.) headed into the final.\u00a0 Nailing ten after ten, Mowrer shot the highest final of the three-day match at 100.2 points to close the gap and finish second overall with 1855.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeaded into the final, I knew I had to shoot hard and I just tried to put it all out there,\u201d said Mowrer.\u00a0 \u201cIt was a pass or fail situation.\u00a0 I think it was my determination and discipline to get on the trigger early, align the sights and break the shot and that was my goal each shot.\u00a0 I did that plan to the best of my ability and it paid off.\u00a0 It\u2019s just my job, it\u2019s what I do, I guess it hasn\u2019t set in yet because everyone keeps telling me I\u2019m not excited enough, but it\u2019s pretty awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With a Men\u2019s 50m Free Pistol team including the likes of Szarenski and Mowrer, the USA will be well-represented in London.\u00a0 As daily training partners at the U.S. Olympic Training Center for nearly a year, Szarenski and Mowrer have a dynamic that can\u2019t be beat.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14577\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14577\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14577\" title=\"mowrer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.downrange.tv\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/mowrer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"251\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">U.S. Olympic Training Center Resident Athlete Nick Mowrer show a rare moment of relief after earning a nomination to his first U.S. Olympic Team.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been training with him [Mowrer] for nearly a year and he\u2019s been shooting some hard scores,\u201d said Szarenski.\u00a0 \u201cActually in practice he\u2019s been beating me and I\u2019m like \u2018I need to step it up.\u2019\u00a0 You can\u2019t slack when the young guys beat you in practice; it definitely makes you pay attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that\u2019s just it\u2014he looks at me like that young punk and I look at him like that old man,\u201d said a cheeky Mowrer.\u00a0 \u201cWe train well together and it will be very interesting building up to the Olympics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beaman finished in third with 1852 points and <strong>John Zurek<\/strong> (Tucson, Ariz.) was fourth at 1847.6 points.\u00a0 2008 Olympic Games bronze medalist and 2012 Olympic Team nominee <strong>Jason Turner<\/strong> (Rochester, N.Y.) finished fifth in free pistol, but will represent the USA in air pistol in London.\u00a0 Sergeant First Class <strong>James Henderson<\/strong> (USAMU\/Columbus, Ga.) was sixth with 1840.2 points and U.S. Olympic Training Center Resident Athlete <strong>Will Brown <\/strong>(Twin Falls, Idaho) shot 1839 points for eighth.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Smallbore action continues tomorrow with competition in Men\u2019s 50m Rifle Prone and Women\u2019s 25m Sport Pistol.\u00a0 The first Men\u2019s 10m Air Pistol match of the National Championships will also be held June 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials &amp;
