SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. \u2013 The man who is the face of revolver shooting in America \u2013 and probably the world \u2013 Jerry Miculek of Princeton, La. won the Revolver division title at the U.S. Practical Shooting Association\u2019s Area 5 Regional Handgun Championship.<\/p>\n

Miculek, who shoots for the Smith & Wesson shooting team, won seven stages and outpaced the defending champ, Matt Griffin of Louisville, Ky., by 54 points with his final score of 1421.5422 points.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody runs a revolver like Jerry Miculek and beating him in competition is probably the single most challenging task in the sport of practical shooting. That\u2019s why it was no surprise to see his name atop the leader board at the conclusion of the Area 5 Championship,\u201d said Gary Stevens, the USPSA Area 5 director.<\/p>\n

Griffin finished second with a final score of 1367.3229 points and four stage wins. Third place went to Mike Carmoney of Mitchellville, Iowa who won one stage and finished with 1302.7398.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the top five were Sam Keen of Ramer, Tenn. and Chad Rausch of Powell, Ohio who finished fourth and fifth with 1187.6715 and 1187.5044 points respectively.<\/p>\n

The Area 5 Regional Handgun Championship was held June 16-19 at the PASA Park ranges in Barry Illinois. The match drew 359 shooters from across the U.S., including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin, the states that make up the Area 5 region.<\/p>\n

The Area 5 match is the second of eight regional events on the USPSA competition calendar. The next regional event is the 2011 USPSA Area 1 Regional Handgun Championship, Presented by Springfield Armory which takes place June 22-26 at Albany Rifle and Pistol Club, Shedd, Ore.<\/p>\n
