Yesterday was an 8:30AM-midnight day…can’t do a podcats becayse I seem to have…lost my voice…
Well gosh, in perhaps stronger terms. We have some really cool video of the Magpul folding machinegun, a truly innovative semiauto shotgun with a revolving tube (video of that as well) and a handgun designed with a levergun-type lifter instead of a feed ramp.
I would write something about Brother Ted Nugent, who performed at last night’s OUTDOOR CHANNEL party, but Ted is simply a force of nature…mo’ later…

A consulting business, a serious blog, a retail store, any number of things including an FFL. Not sure if they’ll count C & R, but I happened to have taken on a programming project for a local gun shop and being a “consultant to industry” has allowed me the privilege of attending.
Being in Vegas obviously makes things a lot easier, but everyone should become free-lance writer and spend time at the SHOT Show once in their lives. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Walt Rauch, chatting for a few minutes with Tim Bradley and got a chance to smile and wave at Michael, who was busy every time I saw him.
I’ll be moving to Lafayette, LA in the fourth quarter of ‘08 or the first quarter of ‘09 with the intentions of opening a range and gun store so plan on being at every SHOT Show from here on, but to be honest, the best source of news I got from the show was settling in every evening to read the Downrange blog and podcasts. If I hadn’t heard Walt talking about his first day and the new Colt, I’d have never seen it!
I got the distinct sense that this ‘08 is a “build-up” year with most of what I saw being refinements and extensions to some solid product lines. Ruger’s releases confused me a bit and Glock’s small refinements make a lot of sense but weren’t show stoppers. I thought Glock’s bringing R. Lee Ermey on board was kind of silly, but the man had the longest lines every time I passed by.
My personal highlight was the release of the Springfield EMP in .40. I’ve felt for a while now that the EMP is one of the great products from Springfield and while I love my Glocks and my XD’s, the feel of the EMP is something I can’t describe.
