I purchased the XD9 9mm new in 2006. I have fired around 3500 rounds so far, no problems. Easy to clean, and easy to strip down. I did send out to get a trigger job done as I had a tough time with trigger control and shooting left (common issue coming from the 1911). After the job, and 2000 rounds, I now have the hang of it. Now that I am used to it, I can shoot any of the XD line, trigger job or stock, with equal success.
One thing to note, if buying a used XD9 or XD40. Pistols made before April of 2006 have the Brunial finish, which is not very good. It will come right off with minimal use. Most seem to either Duracoat it, or send it in for the Springfield Armor Tuff coating. I have the Brunial finish, and yep, it does come off. I do use mine a bit, and carry it a lot, so I expect this anyway. I have not had a rusting issue and I keep it oiled, but some have in the wetter climates.

Excellent gun for home protection and daily carry. I have put over 5000 rounds through this gun. I have been carrying since 2006. I love that you can visually tell the exact status of this gun. You can tell if there is a shell chambered and if the gun is ready to fire. This is an excellent gun - easy to clean - easy to shoot.

Purchased my XD 45 new two years ago. Only modificaitons I've made are to replace the factory sights with TruGlo TFO sights, front and rear and skate board tape on the grips. I mostly keep it as a house gun but carry it occasionally, too. The gun has proven to be absolutely reliable, digesting ALL the ammo I've fed it with no problems; approximately 2,000 rounds at this writing. This includes some steel case ammo. No FTF or FTE. Accuracy is more than adequate for this type of firearm. It's no tackdriver (at least not in my hands) but it is far more than adequate for its intended purpose as a self-defense arm. This pistol is well conceived and executed. I rate it an outstanding choice for a service pistol.

I have no complaints ! Accuracy is very good. Safety system is a big plus. Take down is easy.
Fourteen rounds of 45 acp. About perfect if you add night sights !!!

My XD40 has seen about 3500rds and keeps on kicking. I shoots great and is totally reliable, and just like any Springfield gun it my last longer than you will.

This platform works well for beginners to master. The availlibility of multiple Cal. and barrel lengths is great. I find that no-matter which one I pick up, their all like and old shoe(comfortable). My younger brother is a BIG Glock fan but grudgingly admits the XD points well and are reliable.
I own 3 not by chance. XD9 Sub. XD45 in 4" and 5". I'm not a big fan of pretty guns. I want something that is rugged and reliable and that's what the XD line brings to the table.

I own an XD40 Service and a Sub-compact. I do not like pimp guns and abhor anything shiny so these black guns are right up my alley! I have had a couple of FTFs on the sub but I cannot say that this was not due to ammo and not the pistol. Both are very easy to carry and I love my XS Big Dots on the sub...if I can quit spending money on my AR I will add Big Dots to the Service too.

I donated mine to our PD to try out when we were evaluating new weapons. In 2 days we put over 5,000 rounds through my personal XD45 with out cleaning, only lubing before and after. It never FTF or FTE. Solid gun and easy to work with for beginners and pros. It is now our standard duty weapon.
I also own an XD 40 sub-compact as my EDC. I wish they would make a compact version w/ 4" barrel and short grip for the smaller calibers.
Get one and try it!!!

I carry sub-compact 9mm on a regular basis. Have probably put 2K rounds through it with only a few malfunctions -- but under training conditions where we were trying for malfunctions. Very reliable, and I'm totally confident in its stopping power with STHP ammo.
I have since added fiber optic/tritium night sights and integrated laser -- LaserMax unit replaces guide rod without changing the configuration. There are a ton of after-market parts, holsters, etc made specifically for this pistol. The only reason i don't give it a 10 is because nothing's perfect :-) but this comes darn close in my experience.
