Pros: Price, Its a S&W
Cons: The trigger is really bad

I don't own one of these guns. My buddy has one in .40 caliber, and I have a great deal of experience shooting his.

The price for these guns is great, and if you look hard enough you can find one new for $300.

The trigger is horrible. They are real mushy and it is frustrating to try to shoot it for any real accuracy. They are pretty reliable. I have never seen the gun have a failure. They would probably make a decent inexpensive personal defense gun.

Pros: durability, ergonomics, price
Cons:

A lot of people cry about the "horrible" trigger, but if you've fired double action revolvers, the Sigma is not a big deal. It was not meant to be a target pistol, but a self-defense handgun that is economical, tough as nails, and accurate enough to get the job done. I love my SW40VE, it is quickly becoming my favorite!

Pros: Easy to aim, shoot, load and handle. Fairly accurate
Cons: Trigger pull of 8.5 lbs is

I bought both the SW9VE & the SW40VE. Considering the price (under $300 for each with laser), I think it is one of the best bargains on the market. They are very easy to handle, easy to pick up and aim, and fairly accurate considering the heavy trigger pull.
I own several Glocks, S&W MP and Beretta pistols. The Sigma series certainly holds its own in comparison.

It's my opinion that the gun was designed for novice and inexperienced shooters (based on its ease to aim and fire) looking for home protection. The trigger pull was most likely designed for newbies and inexperienced gunowners from accidental discharges.

Pros: Price, ergonomic, high capacity, does what it needs to without problems.
Cons: Trigger

I purchased this particular firearm (The SW9VE) back in November of '08 as my first handgun. The price was right on point ($279 after mail-in rebate), and the ergonomics felt just right for my hand. I've got small hands, so that's important.

I picked up this firearm in anticipation of it being my everyday carry (CWP in Florida), and it's functioned in that capacity quite well. Day in and day out, it's been reliable, ZERO problems with any kind of ammunition, and even functions when dirty. When I get to the range, it functions perfectly without hesitations or drama.

Yes, the trigger can use some help, and I know I could get a gunsmith to "fix" it, but that would be money I'd rather put towards another firearm. Still, it's not THAT big of a deal to me.

I've made the choice of eventually passing this firearm over to my newbie brother once I can afford a higher-end Springfield XD(M) in 9MM. This really is a firearm meant for novice shooters, so in that respect it gets lots of thumbs up from this guy. =)

Pros: size, price, magazine capacity
Cons: you get more then you pay for

I've had mine at least a year and the trigger seems to be getting better or I have adjusted to it. No failures and I don't have a lot of money invested in it.

Pros: Ease of Use, Quick Breakdown for cleaning
Cons: DAO

I am still in the beginnings of my Sigma ownership and have only run 100 rounds through it. I have been an avid shooter for years and this is my third semi-auto but my first full-size frame.
After giving it the once over before taking it to the range, I was surprised at the ease of take down for the initial cleaning and ease of assembly after I got it ready for the range.
I like the fact that I now can have 16+1 versus my compact's 10+1. I also appreciate that this kit came with a second mag.
As I pulled my first sight downrange, I popped off a full clip and did fairly well by scoring most of my hits on center mass. The Sigma seemed to fit my hand better than other full-size frames that I have had the opportunity to shoot over the years. It was comfortable to fire and came back on target quickly after each shot.
I knew going into this purchase that this is NOT a target weapon, but I really have enjoyed making Swiss cheese out of that target last weekend. I made sure to try it with my weak hand to see if it would be easy to shoot as it was with my strong hand ... 50 fast rounds later, I found myself not even fatigued from shooting weak. I am starting to like this semi-auto a lot ... so much so, that I am seriously considering buying another for my wife to use instead of her .380 Bersa.

Pros: Value for price, durability, ease of operation/takedown
Cons: Gritty/tough trigger, thin blueing

After owning the SW9VE, which I purchased in the disaster kit for 299.99 on sale from Academy Sports and Outdoors, for almost a year I've really grown to enjoy the simplicity and value of the gun. I've ran more than 600 rounds through the weapon and minus a bad magazine that was causing FTF problems the gun has eaten every type of ammo. All the way from 115 FMJ to 147 JHP and even a box of Lawman +P the weapon hasn't skipped a beat.

I did eventually email Smith and Wesson about the trigger and the magazine problem. I received a reply with 48 hours and got a shipping label emailed within 72 hours. I sent the gun back to them via FedEx and received it back 2 weeks later with a new magazine and crisper trigger feel that had less slack to take up to get to the break point. I have to commend Smith and Wesson for their outstanding customer service and for making a pistol that has an entry level price tag yet isn't something that you would classify as scrap metal!

I believe the Sigma series represents a great value in the handgun market that I would absolutely carry on my 4 o' clock everyday (if that stubborn M&P would give up the spot Wink I would highly recommend the Sigma in 9mm for "prepper" purposes, and I intend to keep the pistol in that disaster kit for when tornado season in Oklahoma rolls around since the whole Liberty big metal box won't fit in my bug out bag. I see it as a 'just in case' pistol to have a backup for your backup if you are a preparedness minded person or even a great pistol to take to the range if you just want an inexpensive reliable weapon for home defense.
