I have a XD-9 service model. I use it for IDPA and USPSA, plus it is my main carry gun. The gun just works every time you pull the trigger it goes bang. What more can you want.

XDs have always fit my hand well as is, and the XDm improves on this with the adjustable backstraps. Now it can be fitted for smaller hands. Sights are much improved over XD stock sights. Texturing on grips keeps me from having to apply skateboard tape as I have on my standard XDs.
The capacity speaks for itself.

XDs fit my hand well, so the backstraps are nice for some but don't matter to me. I like the new grip texturing, and the sights are better than the standard XD.

Bought the original XDM .40 which was a fine gun I just didn't care for the .40 round - I wanted it for practice as I carry a .45 and I actually preferred the .45. When the XDM .9mm came out I picked one up and like it much better. The accessories and case that Springfield includes is great as is the fit, finish and overall shoot-ability of the XDM. I would recommend upgrading the sights for use a night.

i have owned two Xd-9 's . purchased years apart. one new and one used, both have been outstanding with realibility & accuracy.
this is one of my favorite handguns in the 9mm poly arena.
i wholeheartedly recommend this product.

Love the gun but it takes some pull to work the slide. Also the trigger feels mushy,but a trigger job should fix that. The gun is easy to shoot and handle overall.

So far love my XDM 40Cal, This fits my hand real well with the smaller backstrap. Seeems really accurate with the 150 rounds i have put thru it so far. Cant beat the case and accessories that Springfield includes.

I have shot many handguns over the years, and this one, so far, is the best for me. It is extremely accurate, it points like a 1911, it carries very nice (IWB), or open-carry. I have a duo-tone (stainless and black). It is 9mm. so ammo prices are not a big concern either. I have seen some hate for XDM's and love for their Glocks on this forum. It's probably that they do not know how to handle a good weapon.

Great pistol, shot very well. Everyone from large hands to small hands could control and make accurate hits on target. Even non polymer shooters were very pleased with its performance. The .40 functioned flawlessly and now I want the 9mm. You can't beat the standard capacity of 19 rds in magazine.

XDM40 service. Waited two years to purchase. (by choice) Had opportunity to compare over time S&W M&P40, SA XDM.40, Glock 23, Glock 23C. Chose this gun to purchase based on safety features in comparison to others. Pretty much all safe action semi's performed well through 200-300 rounds of comparison. I personally was more accurate consistantly with M&P40, but with 1300 rounds now through XDM, sighting is more natural of course. While I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, I think this is a great gun for an occasional shooter (My Wife). Not having to pull the trigger to strip it is a plus for her. My father opted for the M&P40 and although you now do not have to pull the trigger to strip it, you do have to manipulate the internals to dissable it from the need to. If I wanted to save a few bucks, or was recommending an alternative to this gun, I would have bought the M&P strictly for its ability to fire if neccesary during a tactical reload without the mag inserted. All in all, I am very happy with the XDM.40 as I was aware of it's minor differences both plus and minus in comparison to the other 2 options I allowed for. I based my review on honest experience with the four pistols, rather than hype or brand loyalty. See you at the range.
