Pros: Classic design, accessories easily available
Cons: bolt is hard on plastic magazine feed lips

Bought the stainless and black stock version, mounted a NcStar variable scope.
Easily installed.

Does not like cheap Thunder .22lr brand ammo, likes Win. X 37gr HP's 1330 fps.

I think it will break in the more I shoot it, but the Eagle 30rd. mag. feed lips, are chafing at the top and causing occasional FTFeeds. The subsequent round is picked up too early and pushes the nose of the bullet above the bore. Very likely the mags., as the 10rd. box mag it came with, doesn't do it at all.

But I love it.

Pros: Bunch of accessories and easy to change
Cons: bolt hold open hard to engage and release

I have the Wal-mart model wood and stainless with 22" barrel. Shoots great, still looking for the brand / bullet weight it likes best.

.22lr ammo is still pretty cheap to shoot, so I get to shoot it more than my center-fire rifles.

Makes a great small game gun.

Pros: Accurate
Cons: ...none

I purchased the Ruger 10/22 T(target) in stainless. It has the bull barrel already installed.

Very accurate, completely functional, and inexpensive to shoot. I use a no-name 3x9-32mm scope. One sighted in, it "one-holed" a target at 50 yards the first range session.

I payed extra for the target model. I would also endorse purchasing the regular model and buying after market parts as well. This would most likely be more fun, if you have the time.

An unsolicited comment at the range was made. A fellow shooter asked it if was suppressed. It is not. I suspect the bull barrel and the ammunition choice are responsible. I tried a bunch of ammo types that day. I think the mention was made while using Lapua ... subsonic.

Pros: It's a Ruger, it's a 10/22
Cons: None

Mine is a Walnut and stainless model; purchased around 2001(?). For the most part I stay away from crammo (crap ammo) however there have been a few outings where that's all that was available. Don't fret, my 10/22 fires flawlessly regardless of the [cr]ammo.

Fit and finish are excellent.

Have since added a Butler Creek 25-round (clear, steel lips) magazine and a $50 Bushnell scope.'

It's quite a lot of fun.

Pros: Good stock with HUGE after market support
Cons: Magazine & bolt release suck but see above...

Straight out of the box its a good plinker. I have put on a 4X scope and a sling-thats it. Sure you can go hog wild with the barrel, trigger group, stock etc but it works just fine out to 50 yards like it sits. I have well over 10K rounds through it and the wear is starting to show in the reciever with loose pins. The Butler Creek plastic lip 25 round magazines haven't given me any trouble, or the 2 other 1022s in my immediate family. Many a sage rat/gopher have met their end at the end of my familys' Rugers Smile
