Pain to clean, Magazine jams, Magazine will not eject with more than one bullet left. Can't believe I was talked into buying this crap.

absolute joy to shoot, heavy frame and slide absorb the potent recoil of the 10mm.

It's accurate and reliable at a good price. I like the manual safety. Looks like it should be very durable.
Nice and slim but still feels clunky anyway. Back of the slide is too sharp. Chamber loaded indicator is too big. Field strip is OK, but hard to push out takedown pin w gloves on. Detail strip should be easier/more modular for a 21st century pistol. Too many roll pins. Mag safety design asking for trouble: can damage gun if fired w mag removed.
I think "civilians" will buy a lot, mil/pol agencies very few.

I purchased my first M&P used from a "Bought it, shot it once, then it sat in the closet" type of people locally. The gun hadn't even had the factory grease removed and cleaned and only had a single magazine fired through it. I swept it up without a second thought and haven't looked back in terms of a CCW. I am in love with the pistols feel, fit, and finish. It has instilled a confidence in my shooting because I have become so comfortable with it. If I am presented with a shot when the balloon drops I am confident I can and will make the shot over and over again.
I purchased the 4.25" 9mm version with the thumb safety. I am aware that ultimately the trigger finger is your safety but I also love the not only the added piece of mind while it's on my hip but the commonality between drawing it and my 1911 having to disengage the safety on the 4 step draw. I'm used to it therefor it doesn't hinder my speed.
In terms of trigger, giving a quick Google search of 'Apex trigger for M&P' will get that issue resolved quickly. Both my M&P9 and M&P9c have benefited largely from the upgraded trigger along with a local gunsmith doing some polishing and ultimately hand stippling the grips and magazine finger extensions and adding XS sights. The gun has good enough sites from the factory but I like the sight picture of the XS system. In ammunition terms I have found that it seems to cycle a little more smoothly with higher grain Corbon DPX, Hornaday TAP, or DoubleTap ammo and feels a little more accurate over a 115 grain. However, that could be a placebo.
Overall, whether I am carrying the 4.25" version with a cover garment or the compact version in deep concealment in my Comp-tac Minotaur I feel absolutely certain that this pistol will out perform me if god forbid I ever have to defend myself, family, or friends with it. My wife is even a fan of the compact version and is now putting the hers in her carry purse more often than her Taurus 609 these days.

After owning the SW9VE, which I purchased in the disaster kit for 299.99 on sale from Academy Sports and Outdoors, for almost a year I've really grown to enjoy the simplicity and value of the gun. I've ran more than 600 rounds through the weapon and minus a bad magazine that was causing FTF problems the gun has eaten every type of ammo. All the way from 115 FMJ to 147 JHP and even a box of Lawman +P the weapon hasn't skipped a beat.
I did eventually email Smith and Wesson about the trigger and the magazine problem. I received a reply with 48 hours and got a shipping label emailed within 72 hours. I sent the gun back to them via FedEx and received it back 2 weeks later with a new magazine and crisper trigger feel that had less slack to take up to get to the break point. I have to commend Smith and Wesson for their outstanding customer service and for making a pistol that has an entry level price tag yet isn't something that you would classify as scrap metal!
I believe the Sigma series represents a great value in the handgun market that I would absolutely carry on my 4 o' clock everyday (if that stubborn M&P would give up the spot I would highly recommend the Sigma in 9mm for "prepper" purposes, and I intend to keep the pistol in that disaster kit for when tornado season in Oklahoma rolls around since the whole Liberty big metal box won't fit in my bug out bag. I see it as a 'just in case' pistol to have a backup for your backup if you are a preparedness minded person or even a great pistol to take to the range if you just want an inexpensive reliable weapon for home defense.

Straight out of the box its a good plinker. I have put on a 4X scope and a sling-thats it. Sure you can go hog wild with the barrel, trigger group, stock etc but it works just fine out to 50 yards like it sits. I have well over 10K rounds through it and the wear is starting to show in the reciever with loose pins. The Butler Creek plastic lip 25 round magazines haven't given me any trouble, or the 2 other 1022s in my immediate family. Many a sage rat/gopher have met their end at the end of my familys' Rugers

I have three of these and they are all wonderful pistols that fit my hand. 75 years old and still a great choice for defense.

Excellent service size autopistol that is uncommonly accurate and robust. It has reliability and durability for the harshest envirenments. I used the M9 in the middle east on two deployments with no complaints. My 92 is essentially the same gun.

I E-mailed the factory and they sent me new parts and the instructions to install them. The mag release was different then the original and it works like it should. Now after another trip to the range and 50 rounds trouble free it will be one of my carry guns. I was warned the first run from a new model from Kel Tec is likely to have problems but they soon get it right.
