S.W.A.T. Magazine writer dies after tragic accident.
« on: April 23, 2009, 11:02:09 AM »
Guys, some of you saw my post in another thread in regard to the accident which caused the DEATH of Steve Malloy. Here is the announcement from SWAT Magazine's  Editor:

Quote
Longtime S.W.A.T. Magazine Contributing Staff Member Steve Malloy was killed in a tragic shooting accident at his home on April 16.

As best as can be determined, Steve had a 1903 Colt pistol in his waistband and when he bent over to tie his shoes, the pistol fell onto the floor and discharged—the bullet struck Steve in the chest. He was found in the garage, apparently trying to leave the home to summon aid.

Hi wife Rhonda, daughter Stacey and son Ross survive him. Second Amendment proponents have lost a valuable ally. The firearms industry has lost an excellent writer. We have lost a friend. Rest in peace, Brother.

-Denny Hansen
-S.W.A.T. Magazine

Steve was a great guy... one of the few truly "nice guys" in the industry. Apparently, he had made a comment to his wife within days of this accident that he "should get a holster."  Steve KNEW BETTER than to carry a firearm in this way. We all do, yet many of us have done stupid things and gotten lucky. Please THINK before carrying or using firearms inappropriately.

Add my sympathies to the list as well.

Prayers and sympathy for the entire family in their time of grief.

Guns, shooting and Rights all need to take a backseat right now, and we all need to just remember that a family has lost a wonderful husband and father.  No politics, explanations or agendas needed.

My sympathy to all!

I was carrying a CZ70 the same way.  I dropped it in my kitchen and it fired.  The bullet flew between me and my three young children and buried itself into the ceiling.  I have never carried a weapon without a holster since that day.

RIP Steve
