The M-14 is the best looking rifle I've seen! That's a nice rifle in the picture, which I'm sure you are going to enjoy.

Yeah I usually enjoy the initial strip down and cleaning of a new gun.  Then it will go into the safe until I have a chance take it to fire the first rounds, but with this I find myself fondling it and I even took a nap with it this afternoon  ;D.

I've always preferred the more subdued oil rubbed finish to the glossy ones, I think it better shows the character of the wood.

On a PURELY aesthetic basis I would have to argue that the box magazine breaks up the lines of the rifle and knocks it down to second place behind the Garand.
But there is no doubt at all that he has a fine looking rifle that will give him decades of happy shooting and fondling ;D

oh don't worry a service grade garand from CMP is next on my list.  It was actually next on my list before I obtained the M1A, but I saw it at the LGS and I had been looking for something to replace my DPMS LR 308, which is a nice gun but way to heavy to do anything with besides target shoot or hunt from one position.
