The Blue Wave
« on: February 16, 2019, 08:25:54 AM »
We are just a few weeks into the new year of legislation by both federal and state public servants.  We are seeing the consequences of the past election, and what happens when there is a swing that makes people feel they have a mandate they must fulfill.

Every day I read of another state that is facing the possibility of losing their Second Amendment protections.  We are not just talking about small nibbles, but huge bites and even swallowing whole.

One phrase I have not heard or read yet, this year, is quoting the Tenth Amendment and state's rights.  This is something that pops up when the debates really get rolling on restrictions, or more appropriately, infringements.  Just as the anti-gun crowd accuses us of not looking at the entire Second Amendment, I throw back at them the full wording of the Tenth:  Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled.

"Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right".  This is where most people quit.  However, you will notice that their is no period there.  The sentence is not complete!  What happens when you add the rest of the sentence: "which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled."?

Is the Right to keep and bear arms not already expressly addressed by the Constitution of the United States?  If it is, how does the Tenth Amendment give the states any right  to ignore the Second?

I have seen several postings on different forums and social media sites concerning when we should act.  Most are aimed at socialism, but some address different social issues.  Regardless of the issue they are being passionate about, the message is the same:  We cannot wait until the change has happened.  We must resist and fight as they are pushing to stop it from happening.

Join others and openly resist!  Make your voice and presence known to both the public, and the elected and appointed servants!  Be civil, be responsible, be a good citizen, but be firm, strong, and an educated voice (don't rant sound bites).
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
