« on: November 29, 2018, 06:57:42 PM »
So I am having too head back to ca  until the end of the year do to the fires they have had lately( emergency contractor/ adjuster)
It's going too feel so strange not having a gun on me.  It's one of those things, where I really don't want too go, but the money enovled I just can't say no.

Are you going to be in the northern area or the southern?

Nope, no way in hell you could pay me enough to do that.  In ca  in a disaster  area, any contracting law violation  is a felony. I am just there to adjust the numbers from what the "book" says they should be.

So in a total loss like that what do they do? Broom it off down to the slab and start over? Or does the concrete get messed up from the heat? I've often wondered about the fireplaces that are left standing. Do they still have integrity, or does the mortar get cooked to where they have to be knocked down and rebuilt as well?

The slab goes too.  The heat does damage it( the rebar inside too)  same thing with the chimney.  Besides it would be very hard too demo out a slab and leave the chimney slab un touched.  Even if it was fine, you would still have too remove the smoke damage.   Which media blasting  is the only real option( dry ice is the best option  followed by soda)  you would have too tent it, then blast it.  Doing that is not cost effective.  Most forest fires  get hot enough to spontaneously combust wood.

Interesting about the fire damage.

So today while looking at 2 properties that are total losses, I was approached  by the local sheriffs department not once, not twice, but 7 times.  They all said the same thing, " we saw your truck with or plates..."  They wanted too see id  and asking what I was doimg/ who did I work for.    I am glad too see they are aggressively  going after looters and all of them were polite once I told them what I was doing there.  4 handed me thier business cards with thier direct cell on it.  If I saw any thing out of place too call them.  Granted me having my if as an adjuster  around my neck was all that was needed.  I am sure the metal clip board and the camera helped too.

Ps diesel fuel is almost $2 more a gallon  here.  Paying high $4xx range.  I paid $3.02 at my normal spot Sunday when I filled up for the drive
