Can't believe you missed this thread?  If that's it you need to get out more...   ;D

That plastic rod deformation is good to know.  I need to go and check some of my 75B's for a plastic rod and see whats what.  Also that Cajun Gun Works is a new source for me...out of West Monroe, LA.  I've relying on CZ and Angus Hobdell's sight.

I deal with the CZ Custom Shop all the time. They are about a 30 minute ride from me. I went with Cajun Gun Works because it was easier to have it shipped right to my door in just a couple of days, instead of driving across town. I'm headed to the range at first light today to see how it runs. I'm not expecting any issues, but you never know.

What upset me about this was how soft and flimsy the rod was. It is also way too short. The Stainless Steel Rod From Cajun comes flush with the end of the slide. With the plastic OEM rod, I can insert the length of a toothpick into the guide rod bushing before it contacts anything. This allows the spring to bunch up and bow, because there is nothing to support it as it compresses. Along with allowing the rod itself to bend and bow because it is made from material that is too flexible.

And it is also far too small of a diameter which exacerbates the problem . Hence the bowing of the rod from just sitting. Plastic guide rods are no different than plastic anything else. They are OK if manufactured correctly, and are of good design to begin with, (Glock). This one wasn't. Obvious proof of that, is you shouldn't have to start replacing parts in a new pistol before you shoot it, in order to have it function correctly.

Yeah.  Uh-huh.

Scored a CZ97B today.  How about it Tab?  Get one yet?

Bill I ordered a stainless steel guide rod too.

You'll like it. It's a nice, solid gun.

Besides Midway USA, where's your grip source?  I need to dress up the polished stainless 75B and the new 97B.  Heck I may even dress up the SP-01

All of my CZ's wear the factory Cocobolo grips from the CZ Custom Shop. My 97 wears the stock wood grips. They're too dull and flat looking for my liking, but I'm having a hard time locating anything in nice wood for it. Everything now is either in anodized Aluminum, or else that G-10 fiberboard stuff. I'm not that fond of either.

I found these from Nill Grips for the 97. But they're special order, and a bit pricey. They're shown at 6:15 in the video.

They also show these, which are a little less. 106 Euros translates to $118.37 US Dollars. Still expensive, but not as bad.

I was wondering about the aluminum grips.  I don't think they will be my choice but I'd like to see some just in case...there is probably a place and a time for them but I don't know what it is.  Maybe someone here does?

I put a few rounds through the CZ97B last weekend.  Sweet   ;D

It's all metal so it's not as light as the M&P or other polymer guns.  But it sure does shoot soft.  It was a real pleasure to put 45 ACP downrange.  To me this thing shoots like I was hanging onto polymer gun chambered in a 9MM.  This thing is going to be my bear carry gun.

I didn't put it on paper from a rest, but I shot at the waters edge on a pond at some targets about 30 yards away and it shot well with tight "groups".  Then I started blasting at a 200 yard mid-size IPSC silhouette on a moderately steep hill backstop.   I could track the impact based on ground impact.  Well heck, if I did my part it hit the dang thing after I applied proper Kentucky Windage.  So I am impressed with the inherent accuracy and repeat-ability.

If you need a 45 and don't mind the weight this thing is great.  It fits the hand well, has convenient controls, puts the lead where you point it and is impressively priced for an all metal beast.  Heck, I'll buy another one of these before I pick up some other polymer gun in 45 or 40.

Same thing happened to me. I was a polymer fanboy until I bought my first CZ. Now I own 8 different Czech firearms. My 97 easily replaced my SA1911 as my favorite.45

I am tending to be with you on the 1911 being pushed out.  The trigger is better in the 1911 but I can handle the CZ better.  Hmmm...I need to make a field comparison between the two.
