Best 30 Cal Can (Silencer/Supressor)
« on: July 08, 2018, 09:59:31 AM »
I'm about to embark on another foray into suppressors.  I have an older Yankee Hill 30 cal can I keep on 308...that I can probably use on a 300 Win Mag.  However...I'd like to have a dedicated can for the 300 Win Mag.

The guys I know in this area like the Thunderbeast https://thunderbeastarms.com/ products now.

I'm looking for quiet more than light...in fact I don't really care how heavy the better the hush the better I am going to like it.  So...have you guys heard anything about the Thunderbeast products?

I was hoping to see some replies on this.  I have had two experiences with cans, Tulsa with Rastus, and an auto shoot in South Dakota.  Loved them both!

Some day I would like to own a big long range boomer that goes pfffft, with a sonic crack louder than the bang.*

Not surprising no-one has come forward on this one.  Cans are expensive.

I'm just getting around to thinking about one for my .22s, but even that's $400 buy-in at a minimum.

Well, I'm in no hurry to buy the thing I've got too many expenses right now.  I still need to sort out the "aura" from actual performance.  People get enthusiastic for various reasons...and often time rightfully so.  Some times the enthusiasm is pointed in right direction and sometimes it's a sales gimmick....right now I'm leaning towards actual performance.

Hey Les, you know a bunch of shooters...got any insight?

Rastus... sorry, no... most of the old guys I hang around with are into the 9mm PCCs and are currently trying to get a 95 grain bullet to work... I'll ask my friend that works at SOCOM, but I think SF still use the Knights... will try to get back to you in a day or so...

Thanks Les.  I need to get back into the community.  Things have really gotten away from me the last 5 years.  Not that I was deep in...but from my little periphery I used to be up on the good kit out there.
