Independence Day
« on: June 30, 2018, 11:08:05 PM »
It's after midnight and officially July now. I won't be here for the Fourth of July but I wanted to post this pic before I skip town in a day or so. I can't remember where I saw it. I think it was on an AR manufacturers Facebook page. If anyone recognizes it I'd like to give credit where it's due.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

I'm co-opting this as well.   I might search for an original source then photoshop it and use for myself on Wednesday.

And with a little time on my hands, I've made that picture into HD format

I took your HD and filled in the sides. Squint a lot and it won't look too bad.  :)

Excellent job.

Mine follows the current trend, especially in TV news, of blurring the pillars.  I'm not a big fan of it, but in this case it does give a sense of the action and fog of the battle field while focusing on the main subject.

Nice job on the filling in.  It looks good without a squint.

I've always wondered what would happen to Santa Anna if time travel were possible, and Travis, Bowie, Crockett and all were in possession of a .50 cal Barrett with a good Nightforce scope
