While they won't actually set out to go door by door, the authorities will act on it anytime the situation presents itself. 

Have it in the car and have an accident?
Have a house fire and the firemen see it?
Got a neighbor who isn't your best friend?
Or a relative for that matter.

Or a pissed off neighbor who knows, or just thinks, you have something like that?
