yep, the good news is my starter is not gear reduction( it just weights about 50# loll) so I can pull it, turn down the comutator, put new brushes in it and good for the next 200k miles. I am doing the testing at home. I don't trust shops to work on my truck. the only time I let any one else touch my vehicles is when I don't have the tools to make the repair. ( so mainly electronics or highly spealized tools like hub mounted brake lathes for older 4wd pick ups with lockers.) it is very hard to find a good mechanic. the ones that are good are always very, very busy. they are just like virgins on prom night, we know they are out there some where, you just can't find them.
