I'm through feeling sorry for these people. What the hell are they thinking about? They had a chance to elect a highly conservative government in Britain. Who would have at least tried to clean up this whole Muslim terrorist mess in that country. But instead what do they do? They put more liberals in power. These complete socialist fools in London even go as far to elect a Muslim mayor! The same idiots who caused this whole stinking mess in the first place. With all of their runaway immigration of all these unvetted Muslim refugees.

Not only that, but they said the reason May lost out was because of the attacks. You would think they would have helped her gain even more political ground. But no, not with European socialists. Freebies are more important than not having body parts of kids laying in the street every week. While May is no conservative, she's better than the people they put in power last night. They will do nothing but fight her, Brexit, closing their borders, along with anything else involving getting rid of these Muslims that are destroying their nation.

It's the same deal with France. They had a chance to turn things around, and put Marine LaPen in there. But no. She was too conservative they said. So they elect another socialist idiot. Now as far as I'm concerned, they deserve everything they get. So next month, when another Muslim crackpot mows over 30+ people in a stolen truck. Or blows up 20+ at another train station or music concert, too bad. They are only getting what the people they put in power have given them. And will continue to give them. I don't think any of these socialist nit wits will come around, until Continental Europe sees a nuclear weapon detonated on their soil. And it's going to happen. It's only a matter of time. When it does, they'll have no one to blame but themselves, along with the idiots they elected.

Actually it goes back to about the Civil war. That's wen we really started seeing socialist labor unions like the "Wobblies" start forming with the influx of East Europeans.
It could be argued that Lincoln started the crap with his "uncompensated confiscation of private property", in truth, TR was not some one we would want to elect today. His anti trust crusade was useless liberal grand standing that hindered more than it helped.
As for Wilson, he was a freaking dictator with an army of thugs to suppress opposition, and his wife and Col House should have been hung.

I don't think it's just a case of stupidity on the part of the Europeans - maybe within the elites at the middle and upper levels but not at the top.

I've long maintained that the 2 World Wars seriously damaged the Europeans at a deep psychological level. One only has to look at the death tolls from WWI (ca. 18 million including civilians but not counting the Spanish flu) and WWII (ca. 20-25 million in Europe alone, NOT including the USSR or Far East casualties). Plus, the wars were fought in their own backyards, not abroad as with the US and Canada. Thus, their homes and neighborhoods were devastated and/or destroyed. This level of violence has been shown to affect people in very weird ways - the Stockholm syndrome is but one example.

All of this IMHO has seriously screwed the mindset of the Europeans to the point they cannot function to their own benefit when faced with a crisis. The Cold Wars - and the massive influx of US dollars and political influence - kept them focused for a while, but that ship has sailed and the Europeans are essentially left to their own devices.

So, in order to prevent ANY kind of conflict, they allow bad things to happen and blissfully dismiss the causes, replacing them with wishful thinking.

I haven't done the research myself, but how does your theory stack up with the aftermath of the 100 and 30 years wars ?
My understanding is that those 2 events killed a larger percentage of the European population than the World Wars and were followed by massive trade with England and resulting prosperity.
If the results are similar then your theory is probably right.
