I have to add to this thread that the PT92/PT99 pistols seem to be the exception to the rule regarding Taurus firearms. These pistols are built at a factory originally constructed by Beretta to build these pistols for the Brazilian military. When the contract was fulfilled, Beretta sold the factory and all tooling to Taurus. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the workers stayed too.
I bought a PT92 instead of the Beretta model because a really like the safety decocker mounted on the frame and the ability to carry "cocked and locked" as one would carry a 1911. I have put thousands of rounds through my PT92 and never had a single problem that was not ammo related. It's a solid gun with good fit and finish. I would buy another one - but not anything else made by Taurus.......
