Chris Kyle "The Devil of Ramadi" - R.I.P.
« on: February 02, 2013, 09:24:25 PM »
I don't know the back story but this is a loss of a true American patriot.

Quote
Chris Kyle and a friend were found dead at Rough Creek's shooting range.

A former Tarleton State University student who wrote the best-selling book, "American Sniper," was one of two victims shot and killed at Rough Creek Lodge late Saturday afternoon.

Kyle is a former Navy SEAL who served four tours of duty in Iraq, where he was given the nickname "The Devil of Ramadi" by insurgents.

WTF ?

His Wikipedia entry is already updated ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Kyle

With the FPSRussia guy this makes 2 "gun people" who have been murdered recently.
Seems like you'd need to be pretty hot stuff to take down an armed SEAL and someone he thought was worthy of shooting with him .

Got this unlinked news item from www.teapartycommunity.com

GLEN ROSE, Texas -- A former U.S. Navy SEAL who gained recognition during the Iraq War was one of two people fatally shot southwest of Fort Worth on Saturday, KHOU 11 News has learned. Sources close to the investigation identified the former SEAL as Chris Kyle, author of the New York Times bestselling book, "American Sniper." Kyle was shot point-blank while helping another soldier who was recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome, officials said. The murders happened at a shooting range near the town of Glen Rose, about 53 miles southwest of Fort Worth. The Erath County Sheriff's Office issued an alert for the arrest of the suspect, who was later identified as Eddie Routh, 25. Officials warned that Routh was traveling in a Ford F-150 pickup with large tires and rims. They said he was believed to be highly trained with military experience. Routh was reportedly later captured in Lancaster, south of Dallas. Officials said the second shooting victim was a neighbor of the suspect. All three men lived in Midlothian, Texas. "American Sniper," which details Kyle's 150-plus kills of insurgents from 1999 to 2009, was published in 2012. The book's cover referred to Kyle as "the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history." The sniper served in every major battle in Operation Iraqi Freedom and became so well known that the insurgents even had a bounty on his head. Kyle was married and had two children. He moved to North Texas after retiring from the Navy in 2009.

No real information. Motive, did he know him, etc. This will take a few days to sort itself out.........(Edit)......... I just read the shooter knew them and was suffering from PTSD. Kyle and the other victim were supposedly helping him deal with it, when he turned on both of them, and shot them in the back, then fled in Kyle's pickup truck. Again, this is all very early reporting, so don't take any of it to the bank just yet.

I'm stunned. I bought and read his book. What a patriot.

This is truly terrible.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

A true American hero and a heckuva great rifleman.  May God be with this young hero's family.

R.I.P., hero.

As reported in 'The Shooting Wire' (http://www.shootingwire.com/features/227049), TacticalTShirts is working with the Red Circle Foundation (http://www.redcirclefoundation.org/) to provide financial support to the families of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.

You can purchase a memorial T-shirt and read more about this effort at:

P.S.
I have no relationship with, or knowledge of, either TacticalTShirts or the Red Circle Foundation.  This post is provided for your information only.
