I know I've mentioned AmazonSmile on here before, and I've always been able to check my small impact and more on my account page. But I can't recall getting a statement like this email that Amazon.com sent me today.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This is your quarterly AmazonSmile donation notification. Your charity, NRA Foundation, recently received a quarterly donation of $10,540.75 thanks to customers shopping at smile.amazon.com.
To date, AmazonSmile has donated a total of:
$146,804.89 to NRA Foundation
$134,890,393.33 to all charities
Thank you for supporting NRA Foundation by shopping at smile.amazon.com. You can track your impact throughout the year at your My Impact page.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're buying stuff at amazon.com anyway, go to smile.amazon.com and pick a charity you want 1/2% of the profits they make off you to go to. The last time I checked there were over 2,000 charities to choose from IIRC. I just searched for NRA, and NRA Foundation came up in the results. You get the same stuff from the same place for the same price, but you make a difference to a charity that you choose. Nearly $135 million worth of difference so far.

Yes.
I got the same statement for the first time also.
-
I didn't know if that was something new or not because my memory is so bad at times.
-
I think the statement is new.
-
I got a similar statement showing my personal contributions to The Second Amendment Foundation. In light of all the controversy over money issues at the NRA, the 2-A Foundation seems like a better alternative. And, they do all the actual work that the NRA talks about.

The rabbit makes a good point. I didn't even look for the 2AF on there, but I think I'll change my charity soon before I forget. I need to see if Great Lakes Gun Rights is on there first. We had handgun (owner) registration here before they had it in some notoriously anti-gun states. I should keep more of my money here where it might do me more good.
-
Michigan Gun Owners is on there, but I'm still making up my mind.
-
I got one as well.
I didn't realize that there were now so many options to choose from. When I first signed up I selected St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

"You can choose from over one million 501(c)(3) public charitable organizations that are registered and in good standing with the IRS (as provided to Amazon by GuideStar USA, Inc.)." :o I had no idea there were so many either. I thought they said 2,000 when I started using it around 2 1/2 years ago, but I'm dain bramaged from too many blows to the head. :(

I wonder how an organization can get on that list?
I'm thinking that "Rastus's Community Health, Welfare & Public Trust Geriatric Contribution Fund For The Reform, Rehabilitation & Relaxation Of Pre-lost & Post-found Ordnance Owners" should be included as a non-profit.

Form a 501(c)(3). If you designate it as a "left leaning" pro-Dummycrap organization, you'll be on the Amazon list before sundown. Heck, the gubmint may even send you some start-up funds.
