I recently bought a S&W Governor, unlike the Taurus offering it takes .45acp. Since I bought it I have researched reloading the 410 shot shells because of the price for factory new ammo. As I browsed the articles and Youtube videos about reloading 410 the practice of using 303 enfield and 444 brass for brass cases is common. The idea of using a rifle caliber case appeals because they would probably last for many reloadings unlike the plastic that may last three or four times before they are trash. Now comes my question. Has anyone seen 30-06 cut down to make shotshells? Since the Governor takes 45acp with moon clips it seems cutting the taper off 30-06 and using the same information as a guide could be practical. My main concern would be over pressure. If I can't find reliable safe loading data I may make black powder shells Any ideas are appreciated, if someone creates this as a wildcat, name it after me.
I took it to the range last week and tried a variety of ammo at 7 yards. The 45acp and 45 colt did very well, as did the 000 buck. The no. 9 had about a 6 foot pattern at that distance, the no 6 did about the same.

Hadn't thought about that versatility.
I always thought the Judge & Governor would make excellent fresh water fishing guns. Shot shells for snakes, commonly encounter, at least in the south. And .45ACP or .45LC for 2 and 4 legged varmints. The S&W giving you 6 rounds as opposed to Taurus's 5.
Heck if you're cutting down rifle brass to make shot shells, no reason to even go with the .45 ammo. Just custom make your own with the same brass. No end to the variation you could develop.
