Sucks to be that car owner!!

We have nothing yet in ND, but a blizzard warning is in effect from midnight tonight (Saturday) through noon Monday. At last report, no press crews sighted, no overdressed Weather channel dweebs standing around - nothing. As it should be. It's ND. In winter!  ;D

About 5" yesterday, maybe less. Sunny today. 100% chance of rain tonight. I only plowed 2 or 3 times this winter.

North central MA received from 28-31 inches.  Really fluffy powder and within three hours, I was dug out and helping my neighbors.  I have a bit of work tomorrow to help the WWII Vet across the street.  He has his car free but I'm going to finish the driveway for him in the morning.

Windy day, I looked like a snowman with my beard all iced up, eyebrows frozen, snot running down my face!  Winter f*@king wonderland!

Hard to tell with the wind blowing it around . I saw places that had 3 feet or more and 6 feet away bare ground .
Part that had me PO'd was that the 3 feet was the side walk, the bare ground was on the lawn beside it .
Lady I know was saying there wasn't a flake of snow on her car this AM . 4 foot deep drift on the drivers side though.
The official totals were 14 inches here, 19 inches in Belmont, and 26 inches at Gunstock ski area.
That's about a 5 mile radius .
Other places report as much as 30 + inches, Hampton got clobbered with the high tide putting rocks and sand in the road, which is normal, and part of the sea wall collapsing which isn't normal at all.
We got a combination of the storm coming from the West that Frank mentioned, plus another Low that came up from the South.
All that stuff you're hearing in the media about this being "historic" is a load of crap. The storms in '01 and '07 were not only as severe or worse, but there were several of them.
Back in the 60's we got storms like this multiple times a month from December into April.

Further north to Jay Peak or Smugglers Notch...better snow, less crowds!  They both get lake effect off of Lake Champlain!

None here in SW Ohio, but every road in CT has been closed.  Lots of snow up that way.

Think how bad it would have been without Global Warming.   ;D ;D ;D

Attitash, Cannon, Wildcat, Gunstock, Sunnapee, all have about 2 feet of fresh powder.
Mid 30's Sunday and winter mix due Monday will beat it down and crust over whats left.

With out Global warming we would have had 6 storms like this, and the wimpy liberals would have died of the screaming jeebers.

They are actually blaming the cold spell in January and now these storms on the warm up.  Appears that the warm oceans of the last couple years cause the shift.  Wasn't it back in the 70's we dealt with El Nino, or however you spell that Spanish stuff, that caused the opposite of what we have this year?

Blame it on something, and take our rights away!

They blamed snow in the gulf states on GW.

Theory went that with the ice caps melting, the Atlantic is much colder and the currents bring it down to the Gulf making it colder and so the weather in the area gets colder due to the weather getting warmer.

If it gets hot, it proves we have GW.  If it gets cold, that proves we have GW too.

It's all a load of crap.
It's true that weather patterns are warming, it's part of a cycle that has been going on for thousands of years.
That's why 1815 had no summer, ponds in Pa froze over on July 4.
On the other hand as glaciers recede in Greenland archeologists are finding the ruins of Viking settlements they never knew existed.

Don't go speaking facts Tom!

I've tried to point that out for years, and all it does is get me a collection of blank stares.

It helps sort out the people who are worth wasting your breath on from the ones who aren't.

OK, back on topic...

My 80+ year old neighbors drive is cleaned up.  He let me use his 30 year old snow blower, an old Ariens with the clutch drive!  Man can that thing move some snow!

Motivation here is the China/Burma/India Veterans cap in the back window of the Taurus sedan...he tried to pay me but I said his tab is covered for the remainder of his life!

Going over for a beer later!

I thought they said last night was near 100% chance of rain but now they're saying it's going to happen tonight. Either way it's near 40 degrees and I like it. It's supposed to be nice a few days this week and a 30-40% chance of snow the other days. We just don't get hit like we used to.

Eastern ND is probably near 10" at this moment, but it's hard to know exactly how much what with the wind moving it all horizontally! I have a spot in my back yard that shows grass, and the snow is maybe 3-4 feet by the fence 30' away.

Blizzard continues until tomorrow noon. I have to tell you this since the MSM has got its knickers in such a bind because the Nemo storm is happening to THEM, that the rest of the country can suck fumes as much as the MSM cares. At least we got a name for this storm, lame as it is - Orko.

For the record, New England doesn't name it's winter storms.

Nemo was a name given by some lamestream media outlet...

We call it, Friday...it snowed some!  It's better now!

Some queer at the weather channel I think.

The National Weather Service started naming winter storms in the last year.  I don't know if they were feeling left out of the hype or if it was in response for the media's need for hype.  Or, it may be to help the politicians buy votes - They can make it easier for you to understand how much money they sent you because you had to start your snowblower.

Just got off the phone with a funeral director from between Norfolk and Virginia Beach.  I asked if he was waist deep in snow.

His response:  "You been listening to them damn yankees?"  He went on to state he had a little over an inch of rain and 57 degrees.  However, he talked of his time in Maine, and said "if you can't live with it - MOVE!  I did it for many years, got sick of it, and moved back to the promised land."

Officially we got 10", not counting the 3-8' drifts. Winds are down now, major roads were closed - I-94 from Alexandria, MN to Jamestown, ND (maybe 200 miles) and I-29 from Watertown, SD to Grand forks (150 miles?). Most of it's open now, roads are cleared and life goes on.
