Well, actually I've heard from two Krav trainers they'd rather deal with someone wielding a gun than a knife.  And the farther I get into my training, taking a knife to a gun fight isn't as clear cut as what we think.  There is a stealth aspect to a knife that isn't necessarily available to gun presentation. Not to mention the 21ft rule.  Which is kind of why Pincus, Bane, Seeklander have all suggested the necessity for empty hand training.

Good rule of thumb is "Close with a gun, run from a knife"
A gun is a distance weapon, like any other projectile weapon .
If you get control of the muzzle or hammer it is useless, but knives were invented for that kind of up close encounter.

I wonder why no one has incorporated a "stun gun" into a pistol barrel...grab the barrel and you get knocked flat.

I guess there might be the possibility of too many unconscious gun cleaners....
