USPSA Area 6 Day 1 Results (Men)

The results are in from the first day of competition at the USPSA Area 6 Regional Handgun Championship. Here’s how the men stand after Day 1:

LIMITED
01) Dave Sevigny    (GM)  1017.4605  (100.00%)
02) Blake Miguez    (GM)  954.1029  (93.77%)
03) Emanuel Bragg    (GM)  951.2222  (93.49%)
04) Shannon Smith    (GM)  937.3603  (92.13%)
05) Michael Burrell    (GM)  921.8368  (90.60%)

No surprise here as Glock’s Dave Sevigny is one of the strongest competitors and is just as comfortable running his Glock in Limited (against all those customer 2011 variants) as he is in running it in Production. Still to shoot are Ted Puente and Travis Tomasie. Both have the ability to overtake the lead considering that Puente won the national title in 2009 and Tomasie won the title in 2008. The one name absent from the Limited field this year is the defending champ, Bob Vogel, who would have been among those favored to win.

LIMITED-10
01) Jim Martin        (C)  1031.6721  (100.00%)
02) Scott Hattrup    (C)  922.5129  (89.42%)
03) James Nofil        (D)  902.5326  (87.48%)

Just three of the 19 shooters entered in the Limited-10 division shot the match yesterday. Still to shoot are John Koppi and Anthony Luciani who both seem to regularly place in the top five.a

OPEN
01) Max Michel Jr.    (GM) 1055.5425  (100.00%
02) Bradley T McBride    (GM)  956.6969  (90.64%)
03) James Ong        (GM)  923.7082  (87.51%)
04) Mike Selvetti    (M)  895.3064  (84.82%)
05) Sherwyn Greenfield    (M)  891.0724  (84.42%)

Definitely no surprise here as Max Michel, just like at the Florida Open, seems to have an ownership stake in the Open title. Still with a chance, all be it slim, to knock off the seven time defending champion are David Pruitt, Ron Francisco, Eddie Garcia and Chris Tilley. Tilley won the national title in 2008 but hasn’t taken the Area 6 title since 2003 when he beat the deafending champion…Max Michel.

PRODUCTION
01) Michael Hollar    (GM)  989.7234  (100.00%)
02) Gordon Carrell    (M)  952.8256  (96.27%)
03) Joe Mitchell    (M)  872.9480  (88.20%)
04) Tom Thompson    (M)   837.3745  (84.61%)
05) Deon Martin        (GM)  835.5132  (84.42%)

With Sevigny in Limited and Vogel not attending this year, the Production field is a bit more wide open. Michael Hollar holds the lead with Smith & Wesson’s Gordon Carrell in a comfortable second place. However, there is one wild card in the mix, a young kid kinda new to Production division shooting named K.C. Eusebio who’s shooting for the H&K shooting team. Eusebio – as everybody should know – is the current Open National Champion and the current Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Champion, and has the kind of speed that makes him a threat whenever and wherever he shows up. Look for Eusebio, along with his fellow H&K teammate Jason Koon, to shoot his way into the top five – how far is yet to be seen.

REVOLVER
01) Bryan Murphy    (B)  1095.0000  (100.00%)

Luke Fay  (B)
Cheryl Fordyce  (C)
Lena Miculek  (U)

The Revolver field is, well, small this year with just the four shooters listed above, which includes the two women. Hard to make predictions here without a Miculek named Jerry in the hunt but, when in doubt, you can always bet on Lena Miculek since she’s got that super powered shooting DNA.

SINGLE STACK
01) William Munier    (M)  1019.3360  (100.00%)
02) Anthony Pignato    (B)  899.3653  (88.23%)
03) Jon Huspek        (A)  893.3405  (87.64%)
04) Sam Keen        (M)  881.2286  (86.45%)
05) David Harrington    (A)  859.5913  (84.33%)

The Single Stack contest looks like a list of usual suspects with Bill Munier out in front. Anthony Pignato just came off a strong showing at the Battle In The Bluegrass where he won the Single Stack title. The top five here might not see too much change except for Scott Warren who has yet to shoot. Of those left to shoot, Warren is the likeliest to gun his way if not to the top then certainly the top five.

Day 1 results for the Ladies will follow.
