Steskla Returns As Match Director For 2014 Smith & Wesson IDPA BUG Nationals

Brian StesklaBERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and Smith & Wesson announced that Brian Steskla will once again take the reins as Match Director of one of IDPA’s most popular new events – the Smith & Wesson IDPA Back Up Gun Nationals.

“Thanks to Brian’s leadership, and the tireless efforts of his team, last year’s inaugural Back Up Gun Nationals turned out to be one of the most popular matches on the 2013 schedule,” said Joyce Wilson, executive director for IDPA.

“Under Brian’s guidance, and with the incredible commitment from our gracious hosts at Smith & Wesson, the match this year is sure set a new standard for fun and excitement.”

The 2014 Back Up Gun Nationals will be hosted by Smith & Wesson, taking place on the indoor ranges of the company’s Shooting Sports Center. The match is scheduled for November 6-8 and an estimated 300 top IDPA shooters are expected to contest the national title.

“It is a pleasure to once again head such an important match on the IDPA competition calendar. Shooter feedback after the 2013 championship was overwhelmingly positive and I have a great team of safety officers and administrative staff to thank for that. There is no doubt that this November we will deliver another spectacular Smith & Wesson IDPA competition that shooters will talk about for months afterward,” said Brian Steskla.

Online registration for the championship is currently open but slots are limited as the match is expected to sell out. The competition is open to any current IDPA member. To register, go to MatchReg.com/BUG. To select a classification, IDPA members should use their highest classification in the three pistol divisions (CDP, ESP, SSP) or the two revolver divisions (ESR, SSR).
