The USA’s Kim Rhode (El Monte, Calif.) does it again. At the 2011 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, Rhode added another Women’s Skeet gold medal to her collection.

The shooters began the day in scorching conditions of 105 degrees, but California native Rhode didn’t bat an eyelash at the oppressive heat. “I am used to shooting in these conditions,” said Rhode in an interview with the ISSF’s Marco Dalla Dea.

Rhode shot 69 targets in the match and had her work cut out for her in the final as two other shooters were ahead of her. Known for her fierce finals presence, Rhode delivered with 24 out of 25 targets–the highest final–for a one target win over Slovakia’s Danka Bartekova.

This gold is extra sweet, however, as it represents Rhode’s first ISSF World Cup Final gold medal. Bartekova won the silver medal with 70 targets and 22 targets in the final. The bronze medalist was China’s Zang Dongliang with 70 match targets and 21 targets in the final. For complete results and rankings, please visit the ISSF website.  Photo ISSF.
