Greetings from “Disaster City”

Today, Mr. Bane, Mr. Janich and I got the run of “Disaster City”, an incredible training area that is part of Texas A&M University and one of several training areas that belongs to TEEX. Disaster City is a little different than most training areas I spend my time at and not just because they don’t allow guns of any kind (even props) on the site…. The sole training goal of DS is to prepare rescue workers and first responders for the non-tactical parts of disastrous events such as earthquakes, train wrecks, tornadoes and the like. This made it the perfect backdrop for taping segments of The Best Defense: Survival, the spin-off from our incredibly successful TBD show (currently re-running Wednesday evenings on Outdoor Channel). The new show will begin airing in July and feature segments dealing with preparation for and survival during and after large scale events, natural and manmade. I posted some pics from our taping at the US Training Center just before the blog went down and it might have looked like the same old thing…. but take a look at these:

Some the cars in the train wreck areas were in actual wrecks!

Keep watching this Blog for more updates in regard to TBD:S… it is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen on TV!
