Fort Bragg Soldier Wins USA Shooting Team Medallion

The USA Shooting Team has a proud legacy of winning Olympic medals and thanks to the USA Shooting Team Foundation (USASTF), Ft. Bragg Soldier, Kristian Sorensen, gets the opportunity to share in this legacy with his own USA Shooting medallion after winning the WIN GOLD 2012 campaign.

The WIN GOLD 2012 campaign was an effort driven by the USASTF to engage fans in the USA Shooting Team and to gather interest for the team in their journey to the London 2012 Olympic Games.   Over 8,000 participants were entered to win the one-of-kind medallion.

Kristian Sorensen, a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve and Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, is very much a shooting enthusiast.  He has been training with firearms most of his life and has even participated in a shooting competition during his last deployment to Iraq.  He enjoys teaching his wife and three children many of the marksmanship skills he learned in the military.

“I was really impressed with the USA Shooting Team’s performance in London,” says Kristian, “I’m thrilled that my family now has a medal of our own to commemorate their success!”

Featuring five-time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode (El Monte, Calif.), the 1.4 ounce 24k solid gold coin is an intriguing collector’s item given that Rhode became the first athlete in U.S. Olympic history competing in an individual sport to win medals in five consecutive Olympic Games.

WIN GOLD 2012 was promoted through USA Shooting with the assistance of industry partners including Cabela’s, Brownell’s, GunBroker.com, Shooting Sports Retailer, Krieghoff, Trijicon and Field & Stream.

The USA Shooting Team Foundation is the non-profit fundraising arm of USA Shooting. Established in 2009 as a 501(c)3, the USA Shooting Team Foundation’s sole purpose is to support the comprehensive mission of USA Shooting by providing resources necessary to succeed in the highly competitive world of Olympic shooting. The USASTF works closely with USA Shooting’s board and staff to obtain and direct resources that will assure America’s place on the victory podium.  Chairman of the USASTF is Randy Moeller (Sidney, Neb.), a Marketing Manager for Cabela’s, while Buddy DuVall (Atlanta, Ga.) oversees sees the day-to-day activities.
