Debbie Singer Named Asst. Match Director For S&W IDPA Indoor Nationals

Debbie-Singer
BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and Smith & Wesson announced that Debbie Singer has been named the Assistant Match Director for the 2015 S&W IDPA Indoor National Championship. Singer’s selection as Assistant Match Director marks the first time a woman has taken on the role for an IDPA national championship match in the organization’s 19-year history.

One of the most recognizable women in IDPA where she in not only one of a handful of Safety Officer Instructors, and one of only two women serving in that role, but also a dedicated volunteer working at least five major matches a year, Singer has been active in the sport for the last five years. During her career she has served in nearly every match administrative position earning her the respect of competitors and match staff alike, as well as giving her a unique perspective when it comes to running a major championship.

“Debbie has been part of the IDPA championships hosted by Smith & Wesson for several years now. Her dedication to the sport, her innate leadership skill and her ability to see the match from the competitor’s perspective makes her a natural choice to help oversee this year’s Indoor Nationals,” said Paul Pluff of Smith & Wesson.

“Smith & Wesson has always focused on the female shooter with specially designed models, strong female representation on our shooting team and a woman captaining that team. It’s only fitting that Smith & Wesson is once again leading the way as IDPA marks this new milestone.”

Singer will work side-by-side with with Bob Stonehill who is serving as this year’s Match Director.

“Smith & Wesson has always been a leader when it comes to recognizing the important role of women in the shooting sports. To be named as the first female assistant match director of an IDPA national match is a tremendous privilege made even more special by the fact that it comes from Smith & Wesson,” said Singer.

The Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship serves as the official start of the IDPA season. The 2015 match will take place February 26-28 and draws upwards of 350 of the best IDPA shooters to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete on the indoor ranges of the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center.
