sponsored countless matches and made growing the shooting sports a top
priority. That’s why we are so pleased to present USPSA with this check for $14,500
to help them continue their vital efforts in expanding the sport we love,” said
Dave Skinner, STI President and CEO.
“The
name STI is synonymous with Practical Shooting and on behalf of our more than
17,000 members, I thank Dave and the entire STI family for their generous
donation,”
said
Dave Thomas, USPSA Executive Director.
STI
and USPSA announced the fundraising initiative at the 2008 SHOT Show in Las
Vegas. The plan called for the production of two limited edition 1911 USPSA/STI
signature pistols designed specifically for competition from which a portion of
the sales would be donated to USPSA.
This is the second pistol program of its type undertaken by USPSA to
help fund the sport which has grown to record levels in the past three years.
The first effort in 2006 with firearms maker Para USA raised $31,000 for the
organization.
