The Recast Race -
Sep 1, 2008 - 10:43:27 AM
By Michael Bane
It's a new horse race, and we in the gun culture are now in it up to our necks. Two things happened last week to recast the Presidential election in a
new, and for all of us clearer, light. The first is obviously John
McCain's selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his VP choice.
Hunters vs. Shooters -
Jun 7, 2008 - 11:59:43 AM
By Michael Bane
I stopped hunting a long time ago, largely because I have the attention
span of an 8 year-old...made me a good IPSC shooter and a miserable
person in a tree stand. Hunting and shooting are, in fact, two sides of
the same coin. My gripe was that hunting was the giganto senior
partner, to the virtual exclusion of the shooting sports side of the
coin.

I did get to the range
yesterday to put rounds through my Para Carry 9. I love this gun! So
much so that since it now has sufficient rounds through it, I'm making
it my Numbah One Carry Gun.
A Gunny Weekend -

My Class 3 dealer, good buddy Alan Samuel, notified me yesterday that my Serbu Super Shorty 12-gauge, built on a Remington 870, has arrived! The Serbu is an AOW, Any Other Weapon, so it's a $5 trwansfer. I figure I've got another month or two for all my paperwork to clear before I can pick up the gun.
A Few Thoughts on Reviewing Guns - and the latest on the new SIG P250 -

When I talk about shooting this gun or that gun, I'm a lot more atuned to my impressions than any sort of true evaluation...a friend of mine said I bring a "rock critic's sensibility" to talkign about firearms...I used to be a semifamous rock critic, doncha know...and my friend didn't actually mean that as a compliment.
Why I Never Fell in Love with the .40 S&W -

Yes, I know that the .40 S&W, occasionally known as the .40 Short & Weak, has been hailed as the
most lethal round from a hand-held weapon since the RPG, packing the pure stopping power of a cement truck filled with molden lead.
Peace With Honor -

If we are to learn anything at all from the frenzy surrounding the inopportune statement from longtime hunting writer Jim Zumbo, it is that the old cliche is true...hang together, or hang separately!
Knife training for gunfighters - Michael Janich info -
Jan 4, 2007 - 11:28:30 AM
By Michael Bane
The
SG with blademaster and Masters of Defense Knives President Mike
Janich, "How to Take a Knife to a Gunfight," ran yesterday, and I'm
swamped with requests for more info — not just from individuals, but
police departments and military trainers as well.

Can I say this without sounding stupid? Hmmmm...how about, I have seen the future of the single action revolver, and it still goes "Click...click...click...click!"
Say, that's just like the single action revolver's past!
